Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the compression of a nerve in the wrist that can interfere with the ability to use the wrist and the hand. It can also cause pain that radiates from the wrist into the fingers or palm. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a progressive condition that can worsen without proper care.
Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow) or Medial Epicondylitis (Golfer’s Elbow) typically cause pain and tenderness on the inside or outside of the elbow that may also radiate along the forearm and wrist causing elbow stiffness and the grip of the hand to feel weak. Both Tennis and Golfer’s Elbow conditions are also common among plumbers, painters, carpenters, butchers, and those that use computers.
Basal Joint Osteoarthritis , Rheumatoid Arthritis or Osteoarthritis of the Hand are also common and can cause pain, inflammation and stiffness in the thumb, hand or wrist.
Other hand and wrist conditions that could be caused by a fall, twist of the wrist and/or hand could result in a Colles Fracture, Fractures of the Finger or Fracture of the Hand.
