Biography
Dr. Mehalik completed a Bachelor’s degree from both Miami University and Case Western Reserve University prior to attending the University of Cincinnati for his Master’s Degree in Biomechanical Engineering. He attended medical school and orthopedic surgery residency at the Medical College of Ohio (now the University of Toledo Medical School) and trained in arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery at the world renowned Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Los Angeles.
He has completed ground breaking, influential research projects in the fields of human cartilage repair, knee ligament mechanics, arthroscopic shoulder reconstruction and all-arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. He also served as the team physician for all levels of professional, collegiate and high school sporting activities.
Dr. Mehalik’s passion is the advancement of arthroscopic and minimally invasive, reconstructive procedures for the shoulder and knee. Dr. Mehalik remains the most respected shoulder and knee surgeon in our region. He continues to teach arthroscopic surgery to residents, fellows and practicing orthopedic surgeons nationally and internationally. Patients, including many physicians, frequently travel locally, nationally and internationally to seek Dr. Mehalik’s expertise. His expertise and experience have distinguished him as an authority in the diagnosis and management of both common and complicated shoulder and knee problems.
