Biography
Michael Black, DPM, is a double board-certified podiatric surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery, with board certifications in foot surgery and rearfoot reconstruction, as well as ankle surgery. Dr. Black has dedicated his practice to providing exceptional care focusing on his expertise in various areas including: foot and ankle arthritis, complex fractures, tendon and joint contractures, foot deformities and post-traumatic joint disease.
Dr. Black completed his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at the esteemed Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Following this, Dr. Black completed a podiatric surgical residency at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, WA. This also included advanced surgical training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at the Sigvard Hansen Foot and Ankle Institute at Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington in Seattle, as well as additional training in foot and ankle traumatology at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco.
Dr. Black has undergone advanced training in internal fixation of the foot and ankle (surgical procedure to set and stabilize fractured bones), microneurovascular surgery, and Illizarov external ring fixation for the correction of limb deformities.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Black holds a prominent faculty position at the Podiatry Institute, headquartered in Decatur, Georgia. He is widely recognized as a distinguished speaker for both the Podiatry Institute and the International Foot and Ankle Foundation for Education and Research, offering his expertise on a national level.
Dr. Black’s professional achievements include being recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, which is a testament to his exceptional qualifications in the field. Furthermore, he is honored as a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, showcasing his commitment to advancing podiatric medicine and surgery.
